11/27/2023 0 Comments Overlaying videos in imovieSo I'm going to go to Backgrounds and I'm going to scroll up and there is a green background that's included by default. Now that I've got that what I want to do is I want to replace this background here with a green background. It could be anywhere but the bottom right hand corner for this example. But I'm going to just do it really simply here and put myself in the bottom right hand corner. So this could be something where you could, you know, be in a certain portion of the picture or be doing something in particular. I position it where I want and make it the size I want. So it's going to have the green background. I would change this to picture-in-picture. There's no direct way to do it in iMovie but you can do it in two steps. So what if I wanted to position myself, say I was in the lower right hand corner, but I also had Green Screen on. Or I could set it to Green Screen and then it cuts out the background. Because I could take a clip like this clip here and I can stick it above a clip, just a simple background and I could set it to picture-in-picture, so I use here I go to picture-in-picture, and then I could position it somewhere. It's how do you combine the mobility of picture-in-picture in iMovie with Green Screen. Green/Blue Screen: Adds the clip so that during playback, the clip appears with the green-screen or blue-screen parts of the clip removed, and the remaining parts of the clip are superimposed on the main clip in the timeline. By default, the two clips appear side by side, equal in size, but you can swap the orientation of the clips so one clip appears above the other. Split Screen: Adds the clip so that during playback, the clip appears next to the main clip in the timeline. Picture in Picture: Adds the clip so that during playback, the clip appears in a smaller window, superimposed on the main clip in the timeline. The audio of the main clip is still heard. There are four overlay options:Ĭutaway: Adds the clip so that during playback, the movie “cuts away” from the main clip in the timeline and shows the cutaway clip instead. Overlays can be arranged in the same way as any other clip. In movie projects, you can add video clips and photos as overlays, which appear on top of the main clip in the timeline.
